If he best canelo I would put him 18th
If he loses I Will put him 23rd
As a welterweight he shouldn't be considered a top 30 of all time simply due to the fact that he only has 10 fights at welterweight and above, 2 wins by ko [including ortiz], and the only hall of famers he's beat in this weight are;
an old Oscar who lost via split decision,
an beat goods Cotto who bloodied mayweather,
an old mosley who was 1 year inactive, only beat plaster-less margarito.
Still; like Henry Armstrong, Mayweather will rank much higher at the p4p list because even though he didn't do much in every weight division [like Hopkins who stayed in middleweight for a long time] Mayweather did do allot in every weight class. If he beats Canelo he may even be among the top 10 p4p fighters ever.
With that said, i think it's too late for him to be a top 5 p4p ever.
Robinson, Greb & Armstrong are in most top 5 p4p list and are top 3 by the IBRO. All of these men defeated over 10 hall of famers [Floyd may reach 5 or 6 in the end of his career], they all defeated multiple universally recognized world champions [Floyd has faced 0 universally recognized world champions todate], they all kept climbing in weight and fought very large men.

beating canelo would certainly enhance his legacy, but you guys are acting like he's the underdog in that fight, when he's actually the favorite. if canelo were to beat mayweather it would be considered a HUGE upset.
A win or a loss over Alvarez won't put him any lower or higher because his greatness isn't defined by his undefeated record.
No one can rank him until his career is done. When he has been gone from the sport so long that people start to see how good he truly was, then that's when he should be ranked because right now people just look at fighters from previous eras and immediately rank them above Mayweather because of that only. Right now people say Mayweather has ducked this guy or that guy when he hasn't ducked anyone.
How can you rank Mayweather if he isn't given credit he deserves?
I rank him top american fighter of the last 6 years he looks good doing what he does and the undefeated record speaks for its self.. in a list of best fighters I put him 11th almost in my top ten but not there yet
