Ex sport stars becoming pro boxers?

I understand what you're saying the flintoff fight was a joke but leon McKenzie is a little different leon used to come to my gym when he was younger with his dad Clinton who was the European light welter champion . I trained with leon myself and he was quite good with nice smooth hands but he did get bashed up sparring by another young lad at the time called ted bami .

I met leon a view years later while he was playing for crystal palace and he told me then he didn't want to be a footballer that he always wanted to box . I think Freddie flintoff did it for the money while leon wants to see if is good enough to fight before he gets to old ,with leon it's in his blood ,his uncle duke 3x world champ and his dad Clinton would of won a world title today .

flintoff's was a pure joke he had no intention of having more than 1 fight. mc kenzie wont go too far he's already 35 maybe an area title. boxing's in his blood though. his uncle duke mckenzie was a 2 weight british champ, european champion and 3 weight world champion. his dad clinton was british champion and fought for the european title i think.

There have been several ex NFL players attempt to become professional boxers, and none has been successful.

Which shows that being an athlete and being big and strong is not enough to make someone a good boxer.

I don't mind them trying if they are sincere about boxing, but they don't have a chance at being successful.

It depends on how the person feels, since they're already athletes to begin with they might as well try it out & see how far they'll go.

First Flintoff and now some ex footballer (soccer player) McKenzie. Do you not think they're making a mockery of the sport? I mean if your too old to play cricket and football then you far to old to go amateur never mind becoming a pro.
