Athletes are entertainers, so they can and should get what they can, it has nothing to do with what they deserve as a member of society.
Their value to the public is not part of the equation.
Well I do agree that people in the military defending our country do deserve to make more money than an athlete, it could never happen. Athletes get paid to provide people with entertainment, and there is a HUGE market for professional sports when you think about all the money that goes into buying tickets, watching it on tv, buying jerseys, and the 89798621312 accessories they have to go along with it. So that's why they get paid a ton of money. The government unfortunately could never afford to pay military members that much.
Perhaps they are paid more than they should, but before everyone throws up their hands and condemns the athletes...look at the owners and general managers of these teams. No one is putting a gun to their heads and making them sign these contracts. For example, the Tigers were all fine with signing Prince Fielder to a $214 million contract, and Albert Pujols got almost $250 million from the Angels. No one forced these deals to be done. If anything, start criticizing the owners and managers who are signing these outrageous contracts.
Someone who gets paid more than someone who is getting shot at? yea I think they are getting paid too much.
Been seeing "Athletes are paid way to much money all they do is hit a ball or throw a ball or shoot a ball" yea its ridiculous how people say this lol.
