That said, take into consideration that Floyd is the only one who started at 130 and remained successful at 147. Duran start as a featherweight but quickly grew into lightweight. Whitaker started at lightweight. Mayweather went all the way to the title at 130 before moving up.
.
Mayweather was never a natural welterweight. He fought there for obvious reasons. Better opponents, Bigger challenges, More money. Mayweather deserves a lot of credit, Inside The Ring. It's ok to hate him outside but give him his due.
.
Marvin Hagler: Forget this one. Who much more should Floyd be expected to do? He is NOT a middleweight and never will be. St started at 130. Isn't that enough? All the talk about fear of fighting GGG is just foolish.
.
Thomas Hearns: Mayweather's toughest challenge at 147. Hearns has too many physical advantages and would likely not weight 147 once the bell rings.
Hearns by KO or on points
.
Ray Leonard: Ray Started at 147. Floyd plateaued there. True, Floyd won titles at 154 but that was all skill. He is NOT a jr. middleweight.
Leonard W 15
/
Roberto Duran: Looking at the Maidana fight, it's hard to imagine Duran losing. But it could go either way
.
Pernell Whitaker: If there is ever a better defensive fighter than Mayweather, it's Whitaker.
This fight could go either way. Pernell was better at lightweight. Floyd is better at welter.
.
Believe it or not, Floyd Mayweather is still a TOP Ten Welterweight. I can't see the likes of Napoles, Griffith, Trinidad, Walcott or a host of others beating him.
.
Robinson beats them all.
The problem I have with these thought are, Why everyone thinks FMJ is the only fighter to appear to avoid other specific fighters. This has been going on forever. I personally dont blame a fighter smart as Mayweather for defending his position by any means possible. He has beat everyone and still the people give him no credit. I am really sorry about it. He is a Hall of famer and a great fighter ta boot. And he is not afraid of Pacman. With those fighters he would be younger and probably come out just fine. The fact of the matter is he hasnt lost a fight. Castillo in my humble opinion and possibly Cotto did Mayweather come close to a lose. I didnt see the last two with Maidana so I cant say. He is still undefeated in his campaign.
He probably doesn't win any. Maybe a tough decision against Whitaker.
Floyd wouldn't last 12 with a prime Duran, or a 160 lb.Hagler
He probably would have lost against all of them. He's been fortunate to fight in an era with a weak division and when low-risk fights carry are not as heavily scrutinized.
he would beat whitaker, and lost by decision against the rest.
Chad Edward hatten
are you serious? that group, really?....
i can also say youre obsessed w/ floyd....
its just bs cus after that performance against a lowrisk fight...
here you are matchin him against these greats?
Ok before I lost the names I already know most of y'all are probably going to answer "he wouldn't have a chance" because you probably don't like Floyd Mayweather (not that there's anything wrong with that, I'm not a fan either but it doesn't mean he completely sucks) But I want anybody who answers this to think about the skills used by each fighter and determine how One would beat the other. Thanks.
Sugar Ray Leonard vs Floyd
Thomas Hearns vs Floyd
Marvin Hagler vs Floyd
Roberto Duran vs Floyd
Pernell Whitaker vs Floyd
The thing about the fighters I listed (minus Pernell) is they liked to swing and unleash everything in their fights. I noticed in Floyd's last two fights against Maidana, every time he would get hit real good he would grab Maidana by his arms trying to a vapid anymore power hits landing.
