Do boxers get taxed on their fight money?

when they fight for a purse just say for example £10 million would the government take £4million straight away for 40% tax?

Tom,

Taxes do not come right off the top and here's why, Boxers are considered SELF EMPLOYED, meaning that they are their own boss and don't have to pay their own fare share. This is why not so long ago Mayweather owed over 2 million dollars to the IRS. MMA Fighter Nick Diaz just stated after losing his last fight that "He's never paid taxes" prompting Dana White to come out to say "That is very foolish to admit"

Two certain things in life Tom, Death and Taxes.

Yes, by Don King or Bob Arum. Ali only got 50,000 dollars for the Foreman fight. Crazy rip off.

Yes. Boxers are required to file and pay income taxes.

Yes they do get taxed on it....and it comes right off the top
