I will say that Margarito will always give Cotto issues. His chin is too good, and Cotto isn't a traditional boxer. He gets tired and worn down fighting off his back foot, especially against a non-stop guy like Margarito.
The second fight is a perfect example of that. When it was stopped (I didn't agree w/ the stoppage), Margarito was coming on and Cotto was again fading badly. Cheating or not, Margarito is not a good style for Cotto to face.
I'm not defending Margarito, but when he got caught before the Mosley fight, I knew everyone who ever lost to him would claim 'cheat' and it would turn into a witch hunt.
Did he cheat for the Cotto fight? I don't know, but I'd say it's very likely.

Cotto is a master of disguise. You'll never know if he's in pain because his facial reactions is all but the same. Margarito's swarming style knows no disguise. Its always there to seek and destroy. I agree the second fight is similar to the first with Cotto taking a lot of punches but also Margo. It really depends on who's taking it better.

Everyone saw that his punch style was awkard and how his punches got stronger as the rounds wore on.
Magically enough, he said he didnt need the plaster. Two fights AFTER he is caught, both losses, he retires.

And judging by the facial damage in the first fight, which looked like Cotto was getting beaten by the hard end of a brick, AND that one of the loads broke thru Margarito's gloves (Cotto clearly showed him that picture and he had no answer for it), Id say its pretty clear hes a cheat.
And lets please not belittle what he did. Boxing is a dangerous enough sport as it is without introducing weapons. Things like that ruin and take lives. Its pure greed and lack of character that causes someone to do that.

That;s highly possible. I think he did. All the reasoning of his apologists that Margarito had to brave Cotto's gaunlet of punches to do it is pure hogwash. Anybody who knew that his gloves were loaded would really run through the gauntlet for the chance to lay a hand on his opponent and inflict greater damage than he had to sustain. Margarito's punch resistance was a given at that point in time.But his loaded gloves were not.
In their first fight almost certainly, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if Margarito's gloves were loaded in the KO against Sergio Martinez. There really isn't any way to tell for sure if Margarito cheated in his fights with Cintron, Cotto or Martinez, but odds are good he did.
He claims he didn't know and even fired the trainer that loaded his gloves. So idk. But loaded or not loaded he was still kicking cottos ***. The stoppage was bullshit and margarito was still winning.

there first fight was brutal cotto was winning the fight until the later rounds when he ran out of energy and the punches were like a knife slicing cottos skin hes face looked horrible and if you look at there second fight margaritos punchers didnt seem to affect cotto the same way they did in the first fight and cotto wooped him but before there rematch margarito suffered some nasty beatings at the hands of pacquiao and mosley
