Did Roach Abandon Provo in the Algieri Fight?

Nothing would surprise me in this crooked @ssed sport.

I think its Freddies fault beforehand, for not teaching Provo how to box properly

To a certain extent, maybe he did abandon Provo. To think that a great mastermind like Freddie couldn't give advice that could help even the most one directional of fighters such as Provo is a bit absurd, but nevertheless, what do we know from Provo so far? From his previous fights, has Provo ever tried to really BOX? From training camp footage, has Freddie ever really given smart tips to dissect Provos opponent WHEN RUNNING? Im not taking anything away from Provo, but honestly he is probably the most one dimensional known fighter today. And Freddie damn sure knows that Provo is one dimensional.

As analytical and great as a trainer can be, putting yourself in Freddie's shoes, what could you have told a one dimensional fighter whom you have not taught to box properly? He knew Provo was getting his head boxed off with those literally SNAPPING jabs that Algieri threw, and God knows how many times Provos head was sent flying backwards

But hey, then again, Freddie isnt a Ray Arcel who could turn one dimensional Duran into a complete package.

Alvarado isn't as skilled as Algieri. He's more of a slugger who boxes here and there, yet he was winning many of the early exchanges against Provo until he succumbed to his power. Provo is what he is: a limited brawler who will struggle with opponents that can box for 12 rounds.

Doesn't that inaction by Roach deliberately torpedoed Provo's chances at landinga fight with Manny?.

I did not see the fight but based on what Freddie Roach said in the post-fight interview, he was on Provo's corner. In separate interviews, Andre Ward and Paulie Malignaggi who to some extent share Algieri's boxing style and philosophy and who were at ringside as color commentator justified Algieri's win for Provo's inability to make adjustments throughout the fight. If that were so, why didn't Freddie help Provo by way of advice, instructions and pointers except to tell him very late in the fight that he was losing it and would need to go for no less than knockout?
