Just as an idea, last October, my great uncle turned 80. His daughter rented out the local Elks Hall and threw a party for him. It also functioned as a family reunion.
1.You can get small envelopes and write down a great memory to put in each envelope. You can do that yourself or get many family members to write down a memory or more too.
2. You can get 50 differnt types of candies in a gift basket.
3. you can do something similar as number 2, but use different soda kinds and make a "cake" out of them.
4. you can make a "story" with the different kinds of candy too. Example: happy birthday "nerd"! (but only if he likes to joke!!!)
5. you can also find a collection of 50 cards, and if possible from every year he was alive, and make a kind of book out of it. it will show what a great family he created!!!
You can really do anything, especially with the things like 50 kind of candy or soda, because you can really find 50 of anything!!
Hope i helped and i wish him a happy early 50th bday!!
You could make a C.D of a slide show and put all the memorys and pictures/videos of you and your dad together and at the end, make the screen read "Happy 50-Birthday" with a huge family picture. Then you go to the movies and rent a private showing room, then give the staff who works the projection screen the C.D and tell him/her to play it on the huge screen. So then you can go downstairs to your family and tell your dad we're going to watch a movie. Then sit back and relax as the your small slideshow makes it onto the huge screen. I did this to my wonderful dad and it was funny and so cool. I don't know about your movie theater but my movei theater let me do that because it was a special moment. Good luck!
It's my dad's birthday in 2 weeks. I've got idea of getting 50 small gifts and placing then in a box as his present as it's quite a big birthday. I'm just struggling on ideas. He loves sailin and reading but there's only so much you can buy on those subjects. Any help?? Or other birthday ideas?
