I think a Quillin fight would be interesting, but Cotto should win. I would love to see Cotto/ Trout 2.
the biggest ppv fight possible for cotto is canelo... if we see the same handspeed from the martinez fight, canelo will be in trouble...
Styles make fights gentlemen...we need to remember that. Sergio at his peak was great. He was exciting to watch because he was athletic and because he was vulnerable. Cotto looked great on Saturday. He was sharper and more focused that I have seen him. He was however, facing a man who had lost his primary weapon, his legs/athleticism. Perhaps this Cotto could have beaten a prime middleweight Martinez. We don't know. What we do know was that he was facing a Martinez that was dragging a dead right leg around and could not really move to literally save his life.
Canelo is a different beast entirely. He has decent defense, sharper skills, and harder punching. I think that it would be an interesting match up, but I can't imagine that Cotto would be able to match that firepower.
Golovkin looks one dimensional because we have only ever really seen one dimension, the one where he breaks down and bludgeons his opponent into submission. I think that Cotto and Roach could formulate a game plan that would make the fight competitive, but Golovkin would be too big and strong for Cotto in the end.
I like Soliman. He is a work horse, but he was there at the right time to beat a long time but fading Sturm. He would be the easiest pickings for Cotto and I think that he could handle him.
Quillin is good but he is also vulnerable. He might wilt under the pressure from Cotto, if Cotto doesn't get caught with Quillin's big shots coming in.
Canelo would hurt Cotto
50/50 fight with GGG
Cotto by stoppage
Cotto by KO
If he fights GGG I fear for his health, I don't even rate Gennady that highly but the way he punches would damage Cotto's face badly.
Cotto would be Canelo's coming out party this is what i want to see the most, the first PPV fight not involving Mayweather or Pacquiao that does 1million + buys for a long time? maybe. Canelo has the big fight experience now and he is just a more skilled fighter imo. Canelo would beat that as lol.
Props to Cotto for beating Martinez he proved me wrong but i'm still not convinced about him at 160, Martinez didn't look stunned once to me, just off balance everytime he got hit with a shot.
Cotto vs Canelo
Cotto vs GGG
Cotto vs Sam Solimun
Cotto vs Quillin
I think beats them all except GGG, who would probably stop him. Cotto vs Canelo is very close fight, Cotto KO's Solimun within 8 and embarrasses Quillin. Thoughts?
