Also bean bags toss games etc... I know plenty of 50 year old who would really get into the spirit. Just let them know to come "dressed for the carnival" because there will be messy games.
I think a raffle is a bad idea. But prizes would be great. Gift cards instead of stuffed animals are a good idea. Also useful things and not all gift cards, some could be kind of gag gift type items. Such as a bottle of asprin, or a bottle of over 50 vitiamins (if most of the attendees are her age) and so on.
Candy bars are also cheap and fun for a few little prizes. Specially if you can get the older harder to find ones, or one like last year that had to older style packaging on the wrappers from Hershey's
Drinks, there are Tons of drinks using cotton candy out there. Jones soda also makes a cotton candy soda for those who don't want to have a cocktail.
Have everyone come dressed as freaks.
Hi guys,
From the title, you may be thinking that this is for kids, but I had a different idea. It's my mom's birthday coming up in a few weeks (she's in her late fifties). She's really kind of corny (but in a good way :)), and super positive and up-beat. I was thinking that, since she never has parties, I would throw her a surprise birthday party, but carnival themed. For adults though; so it would be kind of corny, with the cotton candy and hotdog food stands, maybe a juggler, and carnival music. However, since I wanted to have traditional carnival games like bobbing for apples and pie eating, I wasn't sure how to get fifty year old adult guests to join in. They probably wouldn't enjoy pie eating, so I was wondering---does anyone have any traditional, carnival ideas that older guests would enjoy but still find cheesy (in a good way). I was thinking a raffle as well, but with more adult prizes (gift cards, etc.), and maybe a fun, carnival-themed cocktail. Any game ideas/things to keep adults entertained? Thank you!
