In college I was a Speech/Drama major for a while, and I took a class in 'stage combat'--basically fighting with swords and daggers as it was (supposedly) done back to ancient times. I learned that a standard move in ancient times was to knock someone down and then hit their chin with the heel of the hand, driving their head back and breaking their neck. This blow was like a karate move, with every muscle in the body behind the heel of the hand to concentrate the force, just as when a karate master breaks a plank of wood.

don't think so. i think your getting confused with an uppercut to the nose. if someone uppercuts someones nose then although very unlikely it is possible for the bone of the nose to be pushed up in to the brain which can be fatal
