Hello everyone. sorry for the account name but this is a very serious question.
I have always been interested in boxing and grew up watching it. My dad actually boxed for a couple of years when he was younger. Ive always wanted to start boxing but I never had the time and was preoccupied with other sports and school. Although my dad boxed he never supported me when I asked him If i could start.. that was years ago and now I'm 19 and am old enough to do it on my own. I always had a dream of becoming pro and its all that I think about. I never pursued it because I just thought there would be no way I could do it or be good enough. Now that Im older I've realized I should pursue it otherwise I will regret it when Im older.
So- Im 19, 178 lbs (freshman 15) and 6 foot tall. I am just back from college for the summer. I live in New York and wonder what gyms should I check out and what would it cost generally?
I know how to fight and Ive won every street fight Ive been in.. I know boxing is completely different but Im just giving background info, I am also athletic.. My biggest concern is my weight. Although I am close to 180, I do not look it. SO if i were to fight in that weight class I would get whooped but Im not sure if my body can afford to lose 15 lbs.
SO how would I pursue this dream? is it possible? How long would I have to train before I fight. It is also going to difficult because I dorm and go back to school in September.
Please give me the truthful answers
