After watching Froch/Ward again i am more convinced than ever that a 100% Calzaghe would clown both of em...
Embarasing watching ward clinging on all the time, and bulling in with the forehead, the speed, workrate and angles JC would be a nightmare for Ward. I can't see anyone @ 168 beating the Lacy/eubank version of joe. Best version of JC better's Ward every time.
A speed fighter can often be offset by another fighter with equal speed..........and more power. Ward would lose the first few rounds. However, he has the speed to shorten the distance. He also has respectable power and would use it to fight at close quarters, where Calzaghe is uncomfortable.
.
Ward would have to turn the boxing match into a fight, close the gap and crowd Joe.
.
Ward W 12 split.
No, i don't think Ward can beat Calzaghe. Joe didn't do that good vs an old Hopkins or Jones. Hopkins won, Jones was too far shot with so many different problems inside and out.
It would be an interesting match up. Calzaghe was quick and he often adapted to his opponent's strategy. After Hopkins had success early in their fight, Calzaghe was able to neutralize some of Hopkins' tactics. Ward's best feature is his ability to figure out and neutralize other fighters so it would be a tough one for both. I would take Ward.
A prime Calzaghe was unbeatable. If he could beat Hopkins and Eubank he would destroy the overrated Ward.
Calzaghe would most likely win a wide UD. Something like 119-110 maybe.
Ward by Decision
I'm not a huge fan of Ward only because of his inactivity. Calzaghe was like a paper tiger..............a million punches, but for scoring points only. I'd take Joe in this one.
calzaghe looked brillaint and fast
