I dont think he can duplicate what Royce Gracie did way back in 90's where Gracie held the UFC belt for 3 consecutive years in a no weight class and no holds barred contest. Bruce Lee would be a lot like Gracie, but he''ll have no leverage as his fighting style is already known. That's where Royce actually got his victories from. Where his opponents had no idea of what he'll bring to the table, Royce already had a masterful plan.

Bruce would always rely on his God given cat quick reflexes. His striking wont be new to fellow combatants, they've studied that. He'll score victories and knock people out. This is not to say the greatest martial artist will walk on most fighters. Ive seen Bruce fight, he boxes, he strikes and he is that -a striker. I just dont know what he'll do on the ground. That will be his downfall
I doubt very much if Lee would have been interested; he was all about developing a practical fighting method, not competition.
Also, he had little or no grappling skills.
Certainly in an appropriate weight class, he would have been an effective striker. Also, in The Tao Of Jeet Kun Do...(which was an outline for a proposed series of books) he mentions "studying the possibilities" of grappling... So he was aware of the importance of this form.

Plus he was tiny. Any heavyweight would just overpower him.

I do think that Bruce Lee would do well as his Speed, striking ability, intelligence, Agility, strength etc are all inhuman but i think he would have some trouble because MMA competition has rules and regulations which limits what a fighter can do to another fighter. In a Street Fight, i would take Bruce Lee over any fighter in the UFC or MMA.
