I believe the best way for you to avoid this would be use you jab to control the fight at all cost but if this doesn't work I would try to rush long enough to get out of the corner then use my footwork to get a better angle and get my self out of the corner.
If they try to pressure you, let them push you back whilst landing your jab, then when you feel your back leg brush the bottom rope, spin off to the side and land a cross. Look at Sugar Ray Leonard vs Roberto Duran II for proof of how successful this can be. But their is nothing wrong with clinching in tight situations. Also, if they rush in quickly, don't be afraid to push them around with your forearms. Make them not want to come in.
well, i must say that if you know that opponent is in for rush and you find no solution that means you are not perfect. there is so many ways of defending. when your opponents rush in, jabs and one two can't stop him. the problem is you can't work out the angle of attack. you may be probably hitting while going back(you probably going back to the same angle where he is rushing) or you are standing still while throwing jabs. if you knows he is rushing in you must throw very fast one two at the same time you must move your self away from him and the best is either to left or right side. but again as soon as you have slip to right or left with powerful one two don't stand there after your one two but get away while throwing one two. that means now you have thrown two one two and two change of position. while throwing your punch at this moment don't intend to land your punch just keep punching while retreating or going to the side. hit to his gloves or head and get away with one two or long hooks.
It depends on your stamina. If you can out last your opponent for many rounds, than just jab him for 10 or 11 rounds until he is tired. But you are probably fighting shorter fights anyway (like 4 rounds).. so that might not work. I would use my height.. so lean back instead of crouching. Work on your reflexes when you spar. When you are sparring, try not to throw a lot of punches and see if you can doodge your opponents punches. If you notice you cant dodge them.. then you will need to just try to beat the crap out of guys and not be fancy.
Ok so im 6'5ft about 210 lbs so quite lean but strong
I guess you could say my fighting style is very similar to Wlad klitschko I know right boring?
I have a good reach and control the fight with my jab and right cross, my problem is I do not have the best chin and people I fight against are realising I dont like being put on the backfoot. I get rushed alot and forced to protect or clinch I have been working on my footwork alot but even in sparing sessions I find myself cornered. Should I be more aggressive and push forward more risking heavy shots but keeping busy, or keep countering and working jabs and try to slip out of being rushed?
