I remember Bernard Hopkins being interested in fighting David Haye
back when Haye was the WBA World Heavyweight Champion. That
was two years ago though. I don't know it would be a risky move. Hop
is going to try to chase a more lucrative fight with Andre Ward up next.
I hope not. I think Bernard is clearly a miracle man. However, a move to heavyweight shouldn't even be considered. If you look at it, the Cruiserweight division is certainly necessary, even though it remains a Nothing division. Look at the difference between 175 and 215. Now take it to 240 and beyond.
In years past, before the cruiserweight division, heavyweights were about 205 to 220 with the rarity being well above that. Now most of them are in the 240 range. Smaller heavyweights wouldn't have a chance against them and --much as I hate the idea-- it might even be necessary to have a super heavyweight division.
The real reason we will likely never see a Super heavyweight division is because people will think that it diminishes the greatness of the past heavyweight champions, like ALI and Louis who ranged in the 200-220 range.
Realistically - It's doubtful.
If both the Klitschko's were to retire, and four or five second rate heavyweights take over the belts... Then yeah, he could have a chance then.
It is not realistic that he could defeat any quality heavyweight.
Odds are long against that one, he would have to beat a Klitschko, and realistically that's very unlikely.
How could he get it?
