Willie is Paul Williams lite IMO.
He's a ridiculously big dude that will fight w/ people instead of using his physical gifts to keep distance.
Nelson throws a good jab, I'll definitely give him that. Paul was never trying to throw jabs and stay out of range.
Nelson, like Paul, is a fighter though. He sits on the inside w/ guys and mixes sh*t up. Problem is, P-Will had a really legit chin, and wasn't fazed by the punch of a junior-middleweight or middleweight (save for that one punch by Martinez).
Nelson needs to figure out what he wants to do. His chin isn't nearly good enough to fight the way he does.
I get it's natural for him to fight and mix it up w/ people, and it makes him exciting, but he'll get knocked out if he keeps playing that game. Cuello isn't a big puncher at all, and he was able to get to Nelson like three times.
Nelson is in the same situation as Amir Khan. He's physically capable of outboxing people and not putting himself in danger, but his chin is so bad that his natural reaction when getting hurt is to fight back.
His heart is great, but his chin is weak. Hard thing to deal with, but no matter what it makes him very fun to watch.
He needs to change his ,mindset. The guy needs to know he got reach and height. What the hell was that "clashing of heads" doing when you're 4 -5 inches taller? IMO Cuello did get him. Nelson almost got knocked down twice. The"almost" thing helped him escape with a victory
He needs to box, he was just standing there against Cuello like his name was Brandon Rios. He was trying to win inside, idk what for he's 6'4. He would try to work inside, then try to go out and get slammed with uppercuts because his head is so low on the inside. He needs to fight tall and pick up a jump rope and get moving.
He needs to change his name! every time he's mentioned I get visions of the ancient country singer.
Work is needed. Cuello almost got him.
