The video speak a thousand words ......
In all fairness to Pacquiao, styles make fights.
Mayweather looked a million times better against Marquez than Pacquiao but Foreman looked a million times better against Frazier than Ali did.
Not saying Pacquiao would beat Mayweather because I think Mayweather would win but just saying using Marquez don't mean much about how good each fighter is. This will invite people to bring up Hatton, Cotto and Oscar.
Styles make fights
All I can see is that Mayweather is a complete fighter, capable of fighting and adjusting to any style. Pacquiao is not. In his prep for his 3rd bout with Marquez, I saw him struggling against a counter punching sparring partner. Despite his physical advantages, Pacquiao can't seem to have an answer for that level of counter punching.
No Sean, styles makes fights. Pacquiao beat Bradley convincingly, but Bradley barely beat Marquez. Pacquiao is a agressor who has footwork and brawl and box with speed. Marquez is a counter puncher. Of course Pac would be pressuring floyd and Marque z was trying to.outbox floyd.
Using Marquez as the ruler would indicate that Mayweather was better.
With that said; styles make fights so using only Marquez as the ruler is misleading. Using Oscar de la Hoya, Miguel Cotto or Ricky Hatton as the ruler would indicate that Pacquiao is better.
There's a lot of factor and one is the weight of both at the time they fought. We can not rely on the performance and result of the fight to gauge who is the better fighter. We got to consider too why fighters fought the way they fight. It could be their familiarity on the weightclass or it could be too that one play smart and just ignored the most important rule that separate and categorized fighters in their respective division.
Mayweather is a prince among kings. Juan is a class act.
Marquez was a super featherweight who had 2 fights at lightweight before Floyd brought him up to welterweight for their fight.
Mayweather can not be praised for beating someone at welterweight who had only had two fights at lightweight.
using jmm to gauge the two top fighters of this era will lead to a big misjudgement... for one, style makes fight, jmm is a boxer puncher, while pac is a pure swarmer...
2nd, jmm is full of wonders, his love handle and his chubby belly when he went up 142 to fight a 146lbs maywether will make you wonder, while against pac, his body built and his power that sent pac to dreamland is freakin far from normal
so, sorry
How good is Pacquiao? How good is Mayweather?
