I think it will be Maidana or Porter because they hold legitimate titles at Welterweight. They both will give him a compeitive fight.
I hope it's not Amir Khan. He's done nothing to deserve it. However, having had time to think about it, it still could be an entertaining fight. Look at it this way.
.
I originally said I wouldn't watch it. I lied. I've never missed a Mayweather fight and I won't miss this one either. While I still hope it's not Khan, it's more because of him than Mayweather. I just don't think Floyd has anything to gain by fighting Khan.
.
One thing to look at, that casual fans will likely miss, is the styles match-up. I can think of a half dozen fighters who deserve this fight more than Khan does. However, think back to the Judah fight. I could think of a half dozen fighters who could have beaten him soundly at the time Floyd fought him. But he still gave Floyd a good fight in the early going, until Floyd figured him out and Judah decided to foul.
.
Khan is a bit taller, still has his speed and has decent power. Mayweather won't knock him out like Garcia did. One other factor that people normally forget is the fact that he's fighting Mayweather. Like ALI before him, EVERYBODY brings his A-Game when he faces Mayweather. He makes everyone else better. Everyone who faced ALI was at his best the night he faced ALI. The same holds true for Mayweather.
.
I still think that Mayweather has nothing to gain by fighting Khan. But Khan will be ready. Look at Pacquiao's last few performances. He was robbed against Bradley, got knocked out by Marquez and I'm still trying to figure out what all the fuss is about the Rios fight because I don't think it was vintage Pacquiao.
.
Pacquiao suffers from the same thing Evander Holyfield suffered from. He has a purpose and, at this point, he can't get motivated for anyone except Mayweather, just like Holyfield couldn't get motivated for anyone except Tyson. If the fight ever happens, Pacquiao will be ready. I don't think he'll win but he will bring his A-game.
.
Either way, it doesn't matter who Floyd fights. I'll tune in. How can I not? It's Mayweather. I've never missed a Mayweather fight and I certainly won't miss this one. We don't have much time left with Floyd and, whether or not the knuckleheads want to admit it, he will be missed once he's gone. I don't see anyone eclipsing his success for a very long time.
A lot of people said it's Amir Khan but for whatever reason, Floyd won't say it's him and if its really him, I believed Floyd have already said it. I will go for a very long shot and that is Collazo who just beat Victor Ortiz in a very impressive fashion. Slow, light hitting welter who just came out from a very big win, then called Floyd after the fight with Hispanic decent, before we forget. Everything Floyd want from a fighter for Cinco de Mayo is on this fighter although like Amir Khan doesn't deserved to have a fight with Floyd Jr.
He's fighting Amir Khan in may for the Welter Weight Title, other than that, I don't know
Amir Khan has been caught with coke, he may not be able to fight Mayweather. Maidana deserves the fight more anyway.
Louis Collozo, this will not be what most expect or the obvious Amir Khan
Maidana
Astro Creep- The title of the article says COULD
Don't try to twist words
It's not like the man has to hurry. Well now he does, but in December he had time if he wanted to delay it. If he is going to fight Khan or Maidana, what does it matter if he announces it 2 or 5 months ahead of time. You will criticize his choice anyway.
Sean G - are you not tired of your IDOL lies..
December 3 , 2013 Floyd declares that he will announce his May Opponent next week
http://www.badlefthook.com/2013/12/3/517...
it's more than 2 months.. what are you waitin for Sean G..
Most likely he will defend his unified welterweight championship versus Amir Khan.
I don't think it's Amir Khan cuz ppl don't want to see it. But if it is, i don't care. I wanna see what Khan fans mean when they say Khan has a chonce.
Who will it be? Last prediction...
It's Khan
nobody is out there for floyd, whether khan, maidana, collazo, porter... hes true to what he said 2 years ago, no more fighting "strong" champs. so come on, lets accept it, he picks low risk high reward fights... he further explained it, this fight must be be a no hardwork, non harmfull, smart looking, healthy, fight, so he cherrypicks opponents fit for the job... and dont tell me its not khan
AMIR fkng KHAAAANNNNNN.
