Boxing: If Mayweather/ Canelo happened at 154?

...not the catchweight, would it turned out differently?

i don't think 154 would of made any difference really ,i think canelo could of done a bit better and i think he did better than anyone has for a while vs floyd . i wish canelo had jumped on floyd instead of counter boxing floyd but it's so easy to say that when you're not the guy in the ring .

canelo will move up to middle and i would back him to beat martinez right now .

No not at all.

Mayweather's movement, speed and counter punching was what earned him the victory, which is something that typically troubles a flat footed, come forward fighter such as Canelo Alvarez. Weight wouldn't have made much of a difference considering it was a stylistic mismatch.

Canelo did get fatigued, but that wasn't the first time it happened. In his previous bout against Trout the same thing happened and that was fought at the normal 154 lb Jr. Middleweight limit. I personally think Canelo is too big for the Jr. Middleweight division and would be more comfortable at Middleweight. For the Trout fight he rehydrated to 172 lbs and although he came in 7 pounds less at 165 lbs for the Mayweather fight that very well could have been the result of overtraining to make the 152 lb catchweight. Physically he's better suited for the Middleweight division.

No. Floyd wouldnt have been required to MAKE 154 and Canelo came in at 165 fight day. The extra weight wouldnt have changed a thing.

at 154, canelo most probably will still gas-out... maybe on the late rounds...

but floyd trying to exhaust him will be far more difficult engaging a more hydrated canelo...

canelo will have the chance for an upset if there is no catchweight

man, you nailed it, you a doctor or somethin???? be careful now, people here might brand you as a hater just for being keen

No, Mayweather is a far superior boxer to Canelo.

Canelo has not fought anyone except tomato cans and washed up formed names. His biggest win was against Trout who is a good boxer but who has not fought anyone either apart from a washed up Cotto.

The result would have been the same at any weight they had chosen to fight.

Canelo tried to out box a smaller man who is a great boxer. He could have weighed 180lbs and he wouldn't have won with that fight plan.

If you're allot bigger then a man you need to use your weight and pressure [because with more weight, one can better take a punch and walk through them].

Look at your avatar; how did Joe Louis beat Billy Conn?

Louis was being out boxed but he pressure Conn who was allot smaller. With the pressure Conn got tired & desperate, traded shots and game over.

Naw. The weight limit was only one single pound lower than what Canelo weighed if for when he fought Trout.

Not at all. Weight had nothing to do with. I did not see a weight drained Canelo, I saw a solid Junior Middleweight unable to use his size advantage against a much smaller man. People like to say that about his fight with Marquez but that was all about skill not size.

same.. Mayweather would run and punch..

Alvarez won't hit a thing..

Canelo is a baby in boxing 23 fights= bum

am just too fed up of people here giving all credit to floyd's flawless kungfu skill when it was the mix of his speed, the catchweight and canelo's stamina problem that really made the win and enabled floyd to once again display his kungfu boxing...

canelo practically did nothing up there, and you all failed to see that???

...not the catchweight, would it turned out differently?

Same result, man. Canelo's just too inexperienced, too raw to deal with the smartest and foxiest boxer of this generation.

Possibly,probably,definetly
