Lol I find it sooooo damn funny people keep going on and on about Schaefer and Haymon and Floyd joining together. First of all Schaefer has a noncompete clause and is still a shareholder. Second Haymon is a manager and doesn't and can't get a promoters license. Seriously GBP is going to be fine and isn't going to lose their roster. Everyone with their conspiracy theories needs to chill tf out
I doubt it. And he doesn't need to. A HUGE majority of fighters who fight on GBP cards aren't even GBP fighters, they're Al Haymon fighters! Seriously the only big name on GBP's actual roster is Canelo. That's it!
I think this is the death of GBP as we know it. Schaefer made it what it is, and what fighter is going to sign to a promotional company whose CEO is always in and out of rehab?? I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Haymon and Schaefer have been planning to f▼ck Oscar for a long time.
I just hope Oscar gets out of this alive. As if he needed any more problems I mean damn. He's gonna HAVE to join to with Arum to survive.
Nope. Floyd knows Oscar hates him.
Absolutely not. Mayweather can work with anyone he wants but I'd be Shocked if he and De la Hoya ever do business without Richard Schaefer. Like you state, it was Schaefer, not De la Hoya with whom Floyd dealt with.
.
Like a jilted ex-girlfriend, Oscar has always rooted against Floyd and judged him every chance he got. He really thinks he's the American Golden Boy and that guys like Floyd have no place in American society.
.
Oscar has not an ounce of loyalty. Look at his track record with nearly everyone he has ever worked with. He doesn't make or keep friends well at all and I suspect he has always been that way. He got buy on his looks and, of course he could fight a little. I have to give him that much even though I don't care for him as a person.
.
Whenever Floyd fought, you could see Oscar's Inflated head standing behind the opponent. His Stupid Blueprint story is right up there with Mark Sanchez' butt fumble in terms of sheer Embarrassment.
.
I doubt Floyd will work with Olga (well, that's what he acts like) again and I look for others to follow suit. Richard Schaefer is a well respected man in boxing and people will see Oscar for the phony he is once the dust settles from Schaefer's departure.
.
I can understand people will dislike each other but Oscar is just ridiculous with his dislike of Floyd. Maybe his wife talks about Floyd a lot. Who knows? I do know that, when you spew so much hatred for one person, especially one who basically ignores you, you make an asz of yourself.
First off Floyd is not a contract fighter with GBP. His own promotional firm has just been doing co-promotion with GBP through Schaefer with whom Floyd has been comfortable working. Without Schaefer there at GBP Floyd might as well also pull out. Oscar might have belatedly realized the impact of his so-called detente with Bob Arum and his lawyers are reportedly trying to get Schaefer back citing contractual obligations. In any event Schaefer is still a part owner of GBP. It was Schaefer who built GBP from the ground up putting it at par with or even ahead of the older more established Top Rank. How can Schaefer be pictured as the villain here? Really Oscar needed to consult Schaefer before playing footsie politics with Arum.because it was Schaefer who made GBP what it is today.
No way.
You said it all, Sean. The only reason Floyd worked with Golden Boy is b/c he has a great relationship with Schaefer.
If Schaefer's not there, then there's no way in hell Floyd will work with GB again
EDIT: lol Right after I answered this question I looked at ESPN at saw this:

I don't think so. Floyd liked doing business with Richard, not Oscar. Oscar had hated Floyd since the build up for their fight. Oscar has picked every opponent Floyd has and has every offered pointers and formulas to them. With Oscar's level of hate can they do business?
