At what age did you begin shooting handguns?

You have a couple good rifles, and a couple classic pistol choices there. Congrats!

I began in my early teens. I was probably about ten when I started with a 22LR single shot.

The .22LR would be the best first pistol unless you felt you needed one for personal defense. The best all around pistol for home and woods is the 357 mag, load it with 38 specials until you get used to it. At least a 4 inch barrel, but 6 inches is better for getting the performance from the rounds. Shorter barrels only belong on pistols where concealment is the highest priority.

An Alternate Look at Self-defense Stopping Power -- .22LR & 357mag pistols have highest fatalities 34%,

Moro fighters, drug free, proving .38 Colt and 9mm insufficient sidearm, .45 Auto never used against them, the .45 Colt was sufficient; The .45 Auto was later given to the Moro to fight the Japanese

Hunting Guns: From Your First Rifle to a World Class Battery

Enjoy! Safety first.

My father and grand father took my hunting when I was about 6.

Safe shooting is a good sport, at your age you most likely need an adult to go to a range, if you live in the country and have had a hunter safety class you can hunt or shoot.

If you want to punch holes in paper you need a 22 since the bullets are much cheaper than the 9.

Only in the US of A!

14, but MY kids started younger!
