A friend of my uncle hunts with a bow and arrow because he thinks it's unfair on the animals to use a gun. He still kills them though so I can't see how the bow helps.

There are plenty of people with an interest in archery who are no more dangerous than people interested in chess or weight lifting.
If he points his arrows at you, you may want to rethink things though.
Some people do it for sport, or hunting. Knowing how to use a weapon doesn't make someone violent.
