1. Mike Tyson vs Kevin McBride 2005 : A complete disgrace to an all time great like Tyson, having to retire facing a club fighter and ends up losing by quitting on his stool. A complete embrassment. Not just that, Tyson trying to cheat by headbutting McBride make him look more like a chump. A KO loss to Danny Williams should have ended Tyson's career, but this one is even more embrassing.
2. Muhammad Ali vs Larry Holmes 1980 : A complete embrassment for Ali.
3. Mike Tyson vs James Buster Douglas 1990 : Had this fight never happened, we might had the chance to see Tyson vs Holyfiled in 1991. Too bad this fight happened and Tyson had to surrender the title first and waited till 1996 to face Holyfield. Douglas was just a journeyman who got lucky, being the right man in the right time to beat Tyson. This was suppossed to be an easy fight for Tyson who would then go on to defend against Holyfield, but he ends up losing here.
4. Sugar Ray Leonard vs Hector CaMacho 1997 : Both fighters had obviously past their primes. I don't know why they should even fight. An embrassing loss for Leonard's, who shouldn't have comeback that night.
5. Vitali Klitschko vs Danny Williams 2004 : What a complete waste. Danny Williams should have never been a HW contender at all. He scored an upset against an aging, out of shape Tyson. That shouldn't give him a title shot like Klitschko.
Wladimir Klitschko vs Jean Marc Mormeck
Vitali Klitschko vs Shannon Briggs
Joe Calzaghe vs Roy Jones Jr
Saul Alvarez vs Shane Mosley
Chris Eubank vs Michael Watson 2
Danny Garcia vs Erik Morales 2
James Toney vs Evander Holyfield
Ali vs. Holmes is my top choice as well. I will, for now, disregard fights in which a fighter has died since that would be too easy.
Thinking outside of the box, I will say my runner-up fight would be Christy Martin vs. Laila Ali. That fight was a disgrace. I understand Martin is p4p one of the greatest female boxers, but to put her in against the younger, bigger and stronger Ali, who outweighed her by at least 20 lbs., was done purely for monetary gain. Would we put in an old Chavez at 140 lbs against a prime James Toney? Roy Jones Jr.? Bernard Hopkins? It's disgraceful.
Roberto Duran vs Comacho or any Duran fight post 80s
RJJ vs Tarver 3
RJJ vs Mike McCullum
Rafael Marquez vs Israel Vazquez 4
Mike Tyson vs Lennox Lewis
Evander Holyfield vs Chris Byrd
Joe Louis vs Ezzard Chaeles (first comeback fight from retirement)
Ricky Hatton vs V. Senchenko
Aaron Pryor vs Bobby Joe Young
Erick Morales vs Zaheer Rahim
You nailed it. Ali vs Holmes would be my first response. Another one would be De La Hoya vs Pacquiao
Manny Pacquiao vs Timothy Bradly .... Disgraceful to the boxing world
Nigel Benn v Gerald McClellan
Louis/ Marciano... Biggest win of Marciano's career was vs the shell of a great champion. Sad way for a guy like him to end it, but that is boxing...old champions become scraps for future champions resume
:(
Mayweather vs marquez and pac vs de la hoya.
A lot of us talk about fights which would have happened and didn't really ever take place....But lets flip the tables for a moment. Are there any fights in history in which you wish Never took place? And why?
wow, this site is really going down hill.
