80s themed birthday party for a 15 year old?

80s parties are "Totally Awesome!" maybe to help entice guests to participate in dressing up put on the invites something like "totally awesome prize for the one voted best dressed at the party!" have a gift card or cool DVD or something for the prize. have all the guests vote for their favorite at the party (everyone likes a little competition!)

maybe since everyone going may not be that into the 80s- make a play list for the party of some top current songs you guys listen to and mix in a few of your fav 80s tunes also.

you could make CDs of all your fav 80s tunes to give out as party favors

have a good 80s movie on in the background too- maybe Back to the Future, 16 Candles or Valley Girl

decorate with neon colors- maybe buy or rent some party lights, disco ball and maybe a fogger machine

An 80s party could be really fun! you should definitely have everyone dress up in 80s themeD costumes to help get them into the spirit of the event. Music is important too. You could make a playlist of some great 80s songs, or if you have the budget you might hire a band that will play some music from that decade. If you are having guys and girls, set up a dance floor area because 80s music was great for dancing. If your group is more laid back, you might show a classic 80s movie like "Pretty in Pink" or "The Breakfast Club". Here is a website that has a ton of ideas for planning an 80s theme party (they have other teen party theme ideas too, in case you change your mind) -- http://www.creative-party-themes.com/80s...

Have fun!

I will be turning 15 in a few months, and I am really considering having an 80s themed birthday party, as I really love that particular decade. I'm afraid that my friends will not be into it because they don't really like that kind of thing. Is this an appropriate theme to choose? If not, what other ideas do you have, and if so, how can I have the best 80s party ever?
