Okay she doesn't have chocolate or booze, that isn't a major crime lady. Your mom would appreciate just a simple get together, share a few laughs. But I agree take it the extra step, it's not going to cost the national debt if you all pitch, and show how you ALL appreciate her.
I think a family meal would be the nicest idea. Have a picnic in the park or a BBQ in the garden if the weather's nice - the kids can play while the adults have a chat.
I'm sure your mother would be very appreciative at just having all the family together for a day.
You could all chip in towards the food and drinks for the meal.
For a cheap but lovely gift idea, why not get together and buy a nice photo album and fill it with photos of the family that she can look back on in years to come.

My mothers 50th is in 6 weeks. We havnt got a lot of cash. I work part time. And my family all have kids so money is tight. We want to show her how much she means to us. (CHEAPLY!) Any ideas? She cant eat chocolate or drink alcohol.
