Dont ever try to be like everybody else .
Here are some suggestions for you:
1) Go through some magazines like Seventeen or Teen Vogue and look at what the models are wearing. Cut out the pictures of the outfits you like, take them with you to the mall, and look for similar items. You don't have to buy the exact brand that the models are wearing (which can sometimes be expensive); you can usually find similar things for cheaper. Just use the pictures as a guide and put together an outfit that looks the same. Pay attention to the accessories - belts, shoes, jewelry - as they can make a big difference in the look of an outfit.
2) Some good shops for girls your age are Forever 21, H&M, Old Navy, American Apparel, Urban Outfitters, Charlotte Russe, Hollister, Abercrombie, Delias.
3) Ask the salespeople at the stores for help. The girls who work in clothing stores usually work there because they love fashion. And unless they're overly busy, most of them will jump at the chance to help you pick out some outfits. Just be honest with them: "I want to dress more girly but I'm not sure what to wear or what will look good on me." Trust me, they will love the chance to help you with your clothing makeover!
4) Makeup: The purpose of makeup is to (1) Highlight the features you like, and (2) disguise the features you don't like. What you want people to notice about you is your beautiful eyes or lips or skin, NOT your makeup. For everyday use, makeup should be subtle and natural looking. There are literally hundreds of tutorials on Youtube and the web about how to make your eyes look bigger, your lips fuller, how to cover up blemishes, etc. It takes practice to get it right! So spend some time experimenting at home.
5) The ladies who work at the cosmetic counters in department stores almost always do free makeovers if you ask... (because they hope you'll buy some of the products, but there's no obligation to purchase anything). So do a bunch! Some may give you a look you're not crazy about, but others you may love. This is a great way to see what looks good on you and what doesn't.
Maybe swap up the sweatpants for some skinny jeans or leggings or something like that. You don't need to wear tonnes of makeup. Just maybe a little mascara and some lip balm or gloss, whatever you want to wear. Maybe wear a hairband. I paint my nails and do the stuff above but I wouldn't go overboard with it. You could put your hair in a side braid if it's long enough. I hope I helped! Xx
There's a lot of places to shop at and find tons of cute clothes. For example, Forever 21, H&M, Pacsun, anything! You don't have to wear loads of make up, wear a little mascara and lip gloss. I think that's good for a start! Try doing different things to your hair for example high ponytails, braids, or if you take showers at night wait until your hair is partially dry then you can braid it in two and the next day it'll be wavy! I do that many time! Hope that helped a little!
I'm 17 and also take all my high school classes on line, so almost every day I wear sweatpants and a t shirt. I'm a hockey player and the rink is the only place other than my house that I really hang out unless I'm just running to the grocery store or gas station or something, and I wear sweats to those places too. I'm a really athletic person and I dress like it too..kind of tomboy-ish. Whenever I hang out with friends I just wear jeans and a t shirt and my hockey jacket, and they all dress like normal 18 year old girls... I want to be more fashionable I guess you could say, only I don't know how or what looks good or where to buy clothes. My hair is pretty basic too, only it's thin and brown and I really don't like it, i never curl it or anything. I don't wear makeup so that probably adds to it. I don't paint my nails and my ears aren't pierced. I wish I did, I'm just clueless.
Any advice? Wish I was a "normal" teenage girl and knew..
